More than just SSO for SAP Business Objects

SAP Business Objects (also know as BMC Analytics) is a highly regarded reporting engine for the enterprise and a superb addition to any IT Service Management suite. However, it is built on a user repository that has no integration with the ITSM user repository, so administrators must maintain multiple user repositories. The effort involved in managing multiple user repositories leads to higher costs and user permissioning errors.

SSO Plugin solves this problem through an SSO module that provides a full BMC ITSM to Business Objects user and group synchronisation tool, allowing the administrator to manage just one user repository.

How is this different from other products?

Other companies will tell you they can provide SSO for Business Objects, but no other product:

How does it work?

SSO Plugin runs on the Mid Tier providing corporate SSO, and also extends SSO to Business Objects. The integration leaves Business Objects configured to use SSO Plugin or the Business Objects local database, allowing the administrator to maintain additional accounts in Business Objects that are not present in AR System if necessary.

When a user access Business Objects, SSO Plugin checks the Business Objects database for an account. If one doesn't exist and the user is in a valid ITSM mapped (to a Business Objects) group, an account is created and Business Objects groups assigned. If the account exists, the Business Objects groups are updated as per the ITSM mapped groups, and if necessary, the user is denied access should they no longer be a member of the relevant ITSM groups.

SSO Plugin also sets up the user first name, last name and email address by pulling the data from the ITSM People database.
