Without SSO Plugin, a users password reset has to be done in all systems independently and manually. With Gartner Group quoting $51 to $147 for every password reset. Customers with BMC and HP applications that have multiple repositories, such as BSM Dashboards and Analytics, are more likely to be in the higher cost bracket.
Gartner Group - Roberta J. Witty & Kris Brittain (April 15 2002) (payment required).
Using automated password reset, a large U.S. beverage producer reduced it's IT service desk cost by more than $600,000 in only one year.

SSO Plugin removes the need for password management tools.
“30% of help desk calls are password-related. Some clients report levels more than twice this.”
Gartner Group - Ant Allan: Gartner IT Security Summit, 2005.
SSO Plugin reduces the cost of self service and self help applications
such as BMC Service Request Management (SRM) because users have no
password to forget.
The purpose of self service applications such as BMC SRM quote the following as key benefits:
While agreeing with the above statements, the BMC SRM application still needs the end user to log into the application. Therefore, if the user forgets the password then all the value add above is lost.
“64% of end users report that they have written down their password at least once.”

“65% of workers use the same password for different applications or services (2003).”

SSO Plugin removes the need for passwords, and therefore the
security of your data and applications will automatically improve.
A large US aviation agency purchased SSO Plugin following a recommendation from BMC. After implementation, we received the following support enquiry:
We have discovered that several hundred (well, almost 2000) of our users have a truncated name in Active Directory which differs from their BMC ITSM login name. What can we do to avoid changing thousands of user records?
The product's 'user aliasing' functionality allowed the client to resolve the situation by re-using an existing field in which the correct Active Directory username could be held when the Login Name was not correct. By using a query to search both the Login Name and user aliased field, the Active Directory username could be matched to the correct AR System User record.
This is a perfect example of why SSO Plugin is the choice for enterprise customers: It provides more than just SSO, it provides features to integrate the AR System into the corporate SSO infrastructure with no additional consultancy or cost.
The client provided the following feedback:
That's p-e-r-f-e-c-t! That saves us changing almost 2000 user names! Brilliant!
This is definitively the right SSO solution for the ITSM environment.
You just can't beat JSS for price, ease of use, and most especially technical support.
